Lot 132: A Traditional Polished Copper Tea Kettle
Not sold
A traditional copper tea kettle, featuring a wide, rounded body with a central horizontal seam indicating a two-part construction. The vessel is equipped with a fixed, arching metal handle supporting a turned ebonised wood grip. The hinged lid is topped with a matching ebonised wooden finial and incorporates a single circular steam vent. The spout is of a curved, tapering design. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The kettle shows signs of functional use and age. The copper surface exhibits a polished finish with scattered areas of oxidation, minor pitting, and a vertical trail of dark tarnish on one side. A small indentation is present on the lower base. The wooden handle and finial are intact, with wear to the ebonised finish consistent with handling. The handle brackets remain securely riveted.
