This lot comprises four pieces of salt-glazed stoneware pottery, each featuring a traditional two-tone ferruginous slip and buff-bodied finish. The collection includes a globular handled jug with a tapered neck and pinched pouring spout; a cylindrical shoulder jar with a narrow neck; a cylindrical storage jar with a sloped shoulder; and a straight-sided open crock with a thickened rim. The shoulder jar is decorated with a black printed graphic of a man in a hat smoking a pipe and holding a mug, accompanied by the printed text CREEDY VINTAGE CIDER above the illustration and GREETINGS FROM DEVON below. The handled jug and the storage jars feature varied depths of honey-brown to tan glazing on the upper sections. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the bases of the items.

Condition report:

The stoneware vessels show signs of utilitarian use and age. The commemorative cider jar exhibits a small glaze skip on the upper shoulder (photo 1). The handled jug shows visible glaze wear and small nibbles around the rim of the spout (photo 2). The open crock displays minor surface staining and pitting characteristic of the salt-glazing process. The storage jar is in generally good condition with surface marks consistent with handling.
