Lot 282: A 925 Silver Dress Ring With Black Oval Cabochon
A 925 silver dress ring featuring a central oval cabochon-cut black gemstone, visually consistent with onyx. The stone is secured in a polished rub-over bezel setting. The shoulders of the ring are of an openwork, split-shoulder construction, forming decorative loops that taper towards the band. The interior of the shank is stamped with the fineness mark 925, indicating the silver purity. A second rectangular mark is present to the right of the fineness stamp, though the characters within the cartouche are not legible. No other maker’s marks or signatures are visible.

Condition report:
The ring shows signs of moderate wear consistent with use. Fine surface scratching is visible across the polished silver surfaces of the bezel and band (photo 1). Areas of tarnish and oxidation are present within the recessed portions of the openwork shoulders and the interior of the shank (photo 2). The gemstone appears intact with a polished finish and no visible chips or fractures.
