Lot 251: Baird & Co. London One Ounce .9999 Fine Silver Peregrine Falcon Round
A Baird & Co. silver bullion round of one troy ounce weight and .9999 fineness. The obverse features a central relief of a peregrine falcon in flight, shown with wings extended against a dark, textured circular field. This central motif is enclosed by a border bearing the struck legend THE PEREGRINE FALCON at the top and ONE OUNCE .9999 FINE SILVER at the bottom. The reverse displays a central field with the struck inscriptions BAIRD & CO. in a Gothic script, followed by BULLION MERCHANTS and LONDON in sans-serif capitals. The outer border repeats the legend ONE OUNCE .9999 FINE SILVER. The round is struck with a proof-like finish on the devices against a matte background.

Condition report:
The silver round shows evidence of significant environmental exposure and handling. The obverse exhibits heavy dark brown and grey toning, concentrated primarily on the left side of the field (photo 1). Multiple fine surface scratches and contact marks are visible across the raised relief of the falcon and the surrounding border. The reverse displays widespread grey toning and numerous handling marks across the central field and lettering (photo 2). Several small nicks are present along the rim on both sides. The item is not accompanied by a protective capsule or original packaging.
