Lot 252: UK 1993 Coronation 40th Anniversary Silver Proof Crown

A UK 1993 commemorative five pound crown, struck in silver to a proof finish. The reverse features the St Edward’s Crown at the centre, surrounded by eight radiating trumpets and the legend FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU 1953 – 1993. The coin is housed in its original Royal Mint presentation case, featuring a red leatherette exterior and a black velvet interior with a cream silk lid liner. Accompanying the coin is a printed paper document titled UNITED KINGDOM Coronation 40th Anniversary Silver Proof Crown Certificate of Authenticity, which bears the printed number 30268 and a stylized EIIR monogram below a crown. The obverse, though largely obscured by the certificate in the presentation, features the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
