Buyer's Premium:

A UK silver crown, featuring the laureate head of King George III facing right on the obverse. The obverse is inscribed with the legend GEORGIUS III D: G: BRITANNIARUM REX F: D: and the date 1819. The reverse depicts the St. George and the Dragon motif by Benedetto Pistrucci, enclosed within a Garter bearing the Old French motto HONI · SOIT · QUI · MAL · Y · PENSE ·. The coin features a toothed border at the rim on both sides. No specific mint marks or edge inscriptions are legible in the provided orientations. The composition is .925 silver.


Condition report:

The coin shows signs of significant circulation and environmental exposure. The obverse exhibits heavy surface wear to the higher points of the portrait, with numerous contact marks and small scratches across the fields (photo 2). The reverse shows similar wear to the equestrian figure and dragon, with pitting visible on the silver surfaces (photo 1). Toning is present in a mottled silver-grey hue. The coin is not supplied with a protective capsule or case.
