Buyer's Premium:

A UK silver crown featuring the veiled portrait of Queen Victoria. The obverse displays the left-facing bust of the monarch wearing a coronet and veil, with the initials T.B. for the engraver Thomas Brock visible below the truncation. The legend is struck in Latin: VICTORIA · DEI · GRA · BRITT · REGINA · FID · DEF · IND · IMP ·. The reverse features the Benedetto Pistrucci design of St George on horseback slaying a dragon. The year 1896 is struck in the exergue, positioned above the artist’s initials B.P. which appear to the right. The coin is struck in .925 sterling silver and features a milled edge. No other marks or packaging are present.


Condition report:

The coin shows signs of moderate wear and environmental exposure. The obverse exhibits surface marks and contact scratches across the fields, with heavy grey and golden-brown toning throughout. Softness is visible on the high points of the crown and hair. The reverse displays similar heavy toning and scattered dark spots, particularly around the horse and dragon figures. Significant wear is noted on the musculature of the rider and horse. The rim remains intact with no major indentations. No protective capsule or case is supplied.
