Lot 151: A Pair of Tomy Motorised Plastic Railway Locomotives, Gordon and Duck
This lot comprises two battery-operated toy locomotives modelled after characters from the Thomas & Friends series. The first is a large blue express engine with a red base and six blue wheels fitted with grooved rubber traction bands. The second is a green tank engine featuring black wheels and yellow decals on the sides. Both items are constructed from moulded plastic with metal axles and top-mounted white plastic toggle switches. The underside of the blue locomotive features an embossed mark reading TOMY followed by a registered trademark symbol and MADE IN THAILAND. The green locomotive features yellow adhesive decals on each side reading GWR. No other maker marks or labels are visible.
Condition report:
Both locomotives show signs of significant play wear and dust accumulation. The blue engine exhibits prominent paint loss on the front red buffer beam, particularly to the right-hand side (photo 1). There are surface scratches and scuffing across the blue boiler and the white face (photo 2). The green engine shows general surface wear to the plastic and light edge peeling to the GWR decals (photo 4). The rear coupling on the green engine is present, while the blue engine features a simple moulded hook. The internal motorised mechanisms are untested. No original packaging or batteries are included.
