Lot 152: A 1997 Royal Hampshire The Metropolitan Pewter Locomotive and Tender
A solid pewter static scale model of a locomotive and coal tender, mounted on a textured pewter track section set upon a dark-finished wooden plinth. The locomotive is modeled after a Metropolitan Railway tank engine, featuring a covered cab, a tall chimney, and detailed boiler fittings. The locomotive cab bears a rectangular plaque on the side with the relief-cast inscription METROPOLITAN 26. The accompanying four-wheeled tender is modeled with an open top containing a simulated coal load and features cross-braced timber-effect sides. The track section is integrated with a simulated stone ballast base. The underside of the wooden plinth is fitted with a black felt pad bearing a gold-printed inscription featuring a crown logo and the text ROYAL HAMPSHIRE, THE METROPOLITAN, HAND MADE IN HAMPSHIRE, ENGLAND, SOLID PEWTER, (C) 1997.
Weight: Heavy.
Condition report:
The pewter surfaces of the locomotive and tender exhibit a natural aged patina and minor surface dust throughout (photo 1). The wooden plinth shows minor shelf wear to the base edges. The printed label on the underside remains clear and legible (photo 2). No original packaging is present.
