Lot 126: UK 1990 Royal Mint Silver Piedfort Five Pence Coin
A UK silver piedfort five pence coin, struck to a proof finish. The obverse features the third portrait of Elizabeth II, while the reverse depicts a crowned thistle, the floral emblem of Scotland, above the numeral 5. The legends read FIVE PENCE and 5. The coin is of double the standard thickness, as denoted by the piedfort designation. It is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule, set within a velvet-lined green presentation case. The interior lid is lined with cream fabric featuring a printed crest above the words ROYAL MINT. A printed card insert is included, which reads 1990 SILVER PIEDFORT FIVE PENCE COIN. The Royal Mint crest is also printed on the card.
Condition report:
The coin shows no visible signs of wear, toning, or handling, with reflective proof fields and frosted devices. The obverse and reverse appear in uncirculated condition. The clear capsule and the green presentation case are in good condition.
