Lot 45: A Henry Potter and Co. London Five-Keyed Piccolo
A Henry Potter and Co. London piccolo, of two-part construction with five white metal keys. The instrument features a turned dark wood body with white metal ferrules and end caps. The five keys are mounted on blocks with rounded spatula ends in a simple-system arrangement. The body bears a stamped maker mark featuring a numeral 2 above a crown device, followed by the text: POTTER / & CO / 36 & 38 WEST / CHARING + / LONDON. No other maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.

Condition report:
The instrument is in good antique condition showing signs of age and use. The dark wood body exhibits minor surface scratches and a deep patina across its length (photo 1). No cracks or splits are visible in the wooden sections. The white metal keys and fittings show significant surface tarnish and oxidisation (photo 3). All five keys are present and appear mechanically functional. No case is included.
