Lot 44: A Sheffield EPNS A1 Viners Canteen of Cutlery, King's Pattern

This lot comprises a 44-piece canteen of EPNS A1 cutlery for six place settings, manufactured by Viners of Sheffield. The service consists of six table knives, six dessert knives, six table forks, six dessert forks, six soup spoons, six dessert spoons, six teaspoons, and two serving spoons. Each component is decorated in the King’s pattern, featuring scrolled edges and double-sided shell-shaped terminals. The collection is presented in a rectangular wooden case with a mahogany-style finish and a red velvet-lined interior with individual compartments. Struck marks to the reverse of the handles read EPNS A1 SHEFFIELD ENGLAND and BS 5577 EX. The handles are further struck with a mark reading VINERS positioned beneath a crown and shield device. The knife blades feature a mark reading VINERS. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
