Lot 85: UK 1993 Coronation 40th Anniversary Silver Proof Crown
A 1993 UK commemorative silver proof crown, issued to mark the 40th anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is struck in silver with a mirror-like proof finish. The reverse features the Imperial State Crown centrally positioned, surrounded by eight heraldic trumpets arranged in a radiating pattern. The circumscribed legend reads FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU with the dates 1953 1993 positioned at the base. The obverse depicts the crowned portrait of the monarch. The coin is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule inside a red presentation case. It is accompanied by a cream-coloured Certificate of Authenticity which bears the Royal Cypher E II R and the printed text UNITED KINGDOM CORONATION 40TH ANNIVERSARY SILVER PROOF CROWN. A printed serial number 30268 is present on the certificate. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The coin remains in excellent condition with high luster and mirror-like fields. The reverse shows no visible contact marks, toning, or milk spots. The obverse, though partially obscured by the certificate in the photograph, appears to be in similar condition. The coin is protected within a clear plastic capsule and is complete with its original red presentation box and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
