Lot 65: Isle of Man 1976 Horse Tram Centenary One Crown, Case
A 1976 commemorative one crown coin from the Isle of Man, celebrating the centenary of the Douglas Horse Tramway. The reverse design features a horse-drawn tram and driver. The legend around the rim is inscribed CENTENARY OF THE HORSE TRAM · ONE CROWN ·. The vertical inscription to the left reads ISLE OF MAN and the dates 1876-1976 appear at the base. The coin is held in a clear plastic capsule within a red textured presentation box. The white silk-style interior lid lining is printed with a black tower logo and text reading POBJOY MINT SUTTON SURREY ENGLAND. No hallmarks or fineness stamps are visible on the coin or its packaging.
Condition report:
The coin exhibits a high proof-like finish with no visible wear or contact marks to the fields or devices on the reverse; the obverse is not visible. The presentation case shows light brown staining to the white interior lid lining and minor loss to the gold-tone border on the exterior lid. Supplied in a plastic capsule and original branded box.
