Lot 109: A Spink & Son Mahogany Coin Cabinet with Two Trays
A mahogany coin cabinet manufactured by Spink & Son, London, featuring a rectangular form with a straight-grained finish. The box is fitted with a hinged lid secured by a brass flip latch. The interior contains two removable mahogany trays, each featuring twelve circular recesses lined with red felt. A vertical storage compartment is situated to the right side of the trays. Inset into the interior centre of the lid is a circular brass medallion depicting the maker’s logo of a three-towered castle.
Condition report:
The cabinet shows signs of use and handling. Light surface scratches are present across the mahogany exterior (photo 1). The brass latch and hinges show minor tarnishing and surface wear (photo 3). The red felt linings within the trays exhibit light impressions and stray fibres (photo 2). The cabinet is supplied without keys.
