This lot comprises two numismatic items, featuring a 2010 commemorative five pounds coin and a metal holiday medal. The five pounds coin features the right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, with the legend ELIZABETH · II · D · G · REG · F · D and the denomination FIVE POUNDS. The initials IRB are visible beneath the truncation. The reverse displays a stylised geometric design incorporating the London 2012 logo, with the inscriptions XXX OLYMPIAD, COUNTDOWN, and the date 2010. The metal holiday medal features a polychrome obverse depicting Santa Claus in a reindeer-drawn sleigh over a snowy village scene, with the script inscription MERRY CHRISTMAS. The reverse bears the block-lettered inscription MERRY CHRISTMAS flanked by festive motifs including a stylised Santa face, reindeer, and a Christmas tree. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the medal.


Condition report:

The items show signs of light surface contact and handling. The five pounds coin obverse shows fine surface scratches and contact marks (photo 2), with similar light contact marks to the reverse (photo 1). The metal medal obverse polychrome decoration is intact, with minor surface marks to the metal fields on the reverse (photo 2). The coin is housed in a flexible plastic sleeve, and the medal is contained within a hard plastic circular capsule.
