Lot 271: A Fine Bone China Footed Bowl Signed . Mellor
A fine bone china footed bowl of circular form, supported by a short spreading pedestal foot. The bowl features comprehensive hand-painted decoration to both the interior and exterior surfaces, depicting clusters of ripened fruit including apples, grapes, blackberries, and acorns. These studies are arranged against a mottled yellow, ochre, and green mossy background. The rim and the flared foot are finished with a thick, burnished gold-coloured application. The interior well bears a hand-painted artist signature reading A. MELLOR in a brown pigment. No manufacturer backstamps or labels are visible on the base of the item.
Condition report:
The bowl shows signs of handling and light surface use. No chips, cracks, or professional repairs are visible. The interior centre exhibits minor surface scuffing and light wear (photo 2). The gold-coloured finish on the rim and foot is largely intact with very minor indications of handling wear.
