Lot 268: A Baron Staffs Ltd Bone China Teapot Painted by Doug Hague
A bone china teapot of globular form, featuring a high overhead scroll handle and a swan-neck spout. The exterior of the body and matching lid are decorated with a hand-painted fruit still life depicting apples and grapes against a mottled ground. The handle, spout, and lid finial are finished with gilding. The base bears a green printed circular mark reading BARON BEST QUALITY CHINA STAFFS LTD GOLD FINE HAND PAINTED CHINA COLLECTORS PIECE, which encloses a device of a crown and two crossed paintbrushes. The underside is also hand-inscribed in black script APPLES & GRAPES BY DOUG HAGUE, and the fruit scene on the body is signed D. HAGUE near the base. No further maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The teapot shows no visible signs of handling or environmental wear. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs visible on the body, spout, or handle (photo 1). The gilding remains bright and intact across all surfaces without visible rubbing or loss. The interior and base appear clean and free from staining (photo 2).
