A UK commemorative crown coin struck in metal to celebrate the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. The reverse design features a central left-facing portrait profile of the Queen Mother encircled by a radial pattern of ten stylised heraldic lions and bows. The legend struck around the inner rim reads QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER AUGUST 4th 1980. The coin is presented in a square blue plastic display case. The case lid is printed with silver-tone lettering reading HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN MOTHER to the left and 80TH BIRTHDAY AUG 4TH 1980 to the right. No hallmarks, purity stamps, or maker’s marks are visible on the coin or its packaging.
Condition report:
The reverse of the coin shows no visible wear and retains its original lustre. The strike is sharp with no significant contact marks or environmental toning visible. The blue plastic display case shows light surface scuffing and fine scratches to the exterior consistent with storage (photo 1). The coin is housed in its original style protective plastic case.
