This lot comprises two metal sad irons of triangular form. The first iron features a tubular metal handle and a top plate embossed with the struck characters NO 4 and DEPENDABLE. The second iron possesses a flat-sided metal handle and features an embossed decorative mark on the upper plate which is not legible as a name or series. Both items are of heavy metal construction with flat sole plates. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the second iron.

Condition report:
The items show signs of extensive age and historic use. Both irons exhibit heavy surface oxidation and rust throughout (photo 1). The metal bases show significant pitting and signs of use (photo 1). The metal handles are structurally sound but show extensive surface corrosion and wear (photo 1).
