This lot comprises two UK 50 pence coins from the London 2012 sports collection. Each coin is struck as a seven-sided equilateral-curve heptagon. The obverses are not visible as the coins are mounted within their original retail presentation cards. The reverse of the first coin depicts three figures in a basketball game and is inscribed 50 PENCE. The reverse of the second coin depicts two sailboats on water against a square grid background, also inscribed 50 PENCE. The presentation cards feature stylised sports graphics in red, orange, and blue. The cards are printed with the text LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION, the respective sport names BASKETBALL and SAILING, and the official LONDON 2012 logo. No hallmarks, fineness marks, or maker’s names are readable on the coins or the packaging.
Condition report:
The coins appear to be in uncirculated condition with no visible surface marks, contact marks, or toning on the reverse faces. The obverse of each coin is obscured by the packaging and cannot be graded. The presentation cards show minor signs of handling, including light rubbing to the corners and a slight crease to the upper edge of the basketball card. Both coins remain in their original retail cards.
