This lot comprises two metal heptagonal 50 pence coins from the London 2012 sports collection, each presented in its original official display card. The first coin features a reverse design depicting an athlete in a wheelchair for wheelchair rugby, inscribed 50 PENCE at the base. The second coin features a reverse design depicting a boccia player in a wheelchair, with the date 2011 struck to the left and 50 PENCE at the base. The obverses of the coins are not visible. Both coins are mounted in orange and purple cardboard cards printed with the text LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION and the sport names WHEELCHAIR RUGBY and BOCCIA respectively. The official logo for the LONDON 2012 PARALYMPIC GAMES is printed at the lower right corner of each card. No maker’s marks, signatures, or metal fineness stamps are visible on the coins or their packaging.
Condition report:
The coins appear in uncirculated condition with no visible toning, tarnish, or contact marks to the reverses. The original cardboard display cards show minor signs of handling, including slight wear to the corners and a small crease to the top edge of the Wheelchair Rugby card (photo 1). The coins are supplied in their original official card packaging.
