This lot comprises a pair of Royal Winton earthenware vases, each featuring a slender trumpet-shaped neck flaring at the rim, a bulbous lower body, and a short pedestal foot. The items are finished with an overall highly reflective gold lustre glaze covering the entire exterior and interior surfaces. The underside of each vase reveals the white ceramic body finished with a clear glaze. A black printed backstamp is present on the base of each vase, consisting of the brand name ROYAL WINTON in cursive script above the words GRIMWADES and ENGLAND in block capitals. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.
Condition report:
The vases show signs of age-related wear and handling. Fine, regular crazing is visible within the clear glaze on the white ceramic bases (photo 2). The gold lustre finish displays light surface wear, including fine scratches and minor areas of rubbing consistent with use (photo 1). No chips, cracks, or professional repairs are visible on either piece.
