This lot comprises a 21-piece tea service, constructed from fine bone china and decorated in the Majestic pattern. The service includes a pedestal-based teapot with a bulbous body and a lid topped with a faceted finial; a milk jug with a wide pouring lip and a C-scroll handle; a lozenge-shaped serving platter with a scalloped edge; six footed teacups with C-scroll handles; six circular saucers with recessed centres; and six circular side plates. Each piece features a deep burgundy band overlaid with a gold geometric diamond motif, positioned above a border of golden filigree drop-pendants. Gilded accents are applied to the rims, handles, and pedestal bases. A black transfer-printed backstamp on the underside consists of the word MAJESTIC above a crown graphic, with ROYAL GRAFTON FINE BONE CHINA enclosed within a foliate scroll cartouche, and MADE IN ENGLAND below. The bases also bear a hand-painted red heart-shaped mark and a gold numeral 9.
Condition report:
The service is in good overall condition. Minor thinning to the gilding is visible on the teapot rim (photo 3) and the handles of the cups (photo 4). A small dark firing speck is located on the interior rim of the milk jug (photo 4). No cracks or chips are visible. Minor surface stacking marks are present on the plates and saucers.
