A 925 silver brooch of modernist design, featuring a stylised abstract composition suggestive of a sailing vessel. The piece is constructed with a central vertical stem, intersected by a curved lower element and three horizontal tapering lines reminiscent of oars. A single, irregularly shaped white baroque pearl is suspended from a jump ring at the apical point of the brooch. The construction utilises slender rods of square and circular profile, joined at various intersection points to create a three-dimensional geometric effect. The reverse features a horizontal pin with a rotating safety clasp. A small, rectangular recessed stamp is located on the reverse at the base of the vertical element, though the characters within are not legible as a name. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The brooch shows signs of natural age-related tarnish and surface oxidation across all metal surfaces. There is a small area of yellowish residue located on the reverse of one horizontal element (photo 2). The suspended pearl is intact and securely attached. The pin mechanism and revolving safety catch are in functional order.
