A UK 1845 silver full crown, of circular sterling silver construction featuring a lettered edge. The obverse features the Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, accompanied by the struck legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA and the date 1845 below the truncation of the neck. The reverse displays a crowned shield of the royal arms within a laurel wreath, surrounded by the legend BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: and floral emblems of the rose, thistle, and shamrock. The edge is lettered in relief with the inscription DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI VIII. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The coin shows signs of significant circulated wear and environmental exposure. The obverse exhibits wear to the high points of the portrait and numerous contact marks, with an uneven dark grey patina (photo 1). The reverse shows wear to the shield and wreath details with scattered surface nicks (photo 2). The edge displays some bruising and flattening to the rim, but the lettering remains legible (photo 3). No protective capsule or original case is supplied.
