A UK 1887 silver coin, of double florin denomination. The obverse features the Jubilee Head portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, wearing a crown and veil, with the struck legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. The reverse depicts four crowned shields in a cruciform arrangement representing England, Scotland, and Ireland, separated by four scepters with the Star of the Garter at the centre. The reverse legend is struck BRITT: REG: 18 87 FID: DEF: with the date featuring a Roman I variety. The coin is finished with a milled edge. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The coin shows signs of light circulation and handling. The obverse exhibits wear on the high points of the portrait\'s cheek and crown, with scattered contact marks and fine surface scratches present in the fields (photo 1). The reverse shows wear to the centres of the shields and the scepters, with light grey toning and small contact marks visible across the surface (photo 2). The milled edge remains well-defined. The coin is not supplied with a protective capsule or original packaging.
