This UK 1984 Scottish Brilliant Uncirculated £1 coin is constructed from nickel-brass and presented in its original Royal Mint folder. The reverse design, by Leslie Durbin, features a central thistle plant surmounted by a royal crown, set within a circular border inscribed with the denomination ONE POUND at the base. The obverse displays the Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is mounted within a green card bi-fold presentation folder. The front cover features a colour photograph of a Highland bagpiper and is printed with the text 1984 BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED SCOTTISH £1 COIN in red capitals. The interior of the folder displays a printed Royal Arms of Scotland crest with the Latin motto NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT. The name ROYAL MINT is printed at the bottom of the front cover and on the interior. The word REVERSE is printed above the coin aperture on the interior panel. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The coin appears in brilliant uncirculated condition, displaying full original luster and a sharp strike. The reverse (photo 1) shows no visible contact marks, scratches, or signs of circulation wear. The protective presentation folder remains structurally sound, though it exhibits light handling wear including a small surface scuff to the right of the coin aperture (photo 1). The coin is securely held in its original card mounting.
