A 1986 United Kingdom two pound coin, issued by the Royal Mint to commemorate the XIII Commonwealth Games. The obverse features the third definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem with the legend ELIZABETH · II · DEI · GRATIA · REGINA · F · D and the denomination TWO POUNDS. The coin is housed in its original card presentation folder which is printed with the text COMMONWEALTH GAMES 1986 and BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED TWO POUND COIN. A red Royal Mint crest and the name ROYAL MINT are printed on the folder. The interior of the folder features a colour illustration of four runners and bears four printed signatures in blue ink reading ROGER BANNISTER, STEVE CRAM, STEVE OVETT, and SEBASTIAN COE. No fineness or metal content marks are visible on the coin or its packaging.
Condition report:
The coin and presentation folder remain in high-quality condition. The obverse of the coin retains full original mint lustre with no visible contact marks or environmental tarnish (photo 1). The card presentation folder exhibits minor shelf wear and light rubbing to the edges and corners (photo 1). The four blue ink signatures are bold and remain clear. The coin is held securely in its original Royal Mint presentation packaging.
