Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
This lot comprises eight uncirculated British coins from 1983, presented in their original Royal Mint black card folder. The set contains a nickel-brass one pound, cupro-nickel fifty, twenty, ten, and five pence pieces, and bronze two, one, and half pence pieces. Each coin features the Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse with the legend ELIZABETH·II D·G·REG·F·D·1983. The reverse designs include the Royal Arms, Britannia, a crowned Tudor Rose, a crowned lion, a crowned thistle, the Prince of Wales’s feathers, a crowned portcullis, and the Imperial Crown. The coins are housed in a sealed clear plastic insert within the folder. The exterior of the folder is printed with the legends UNITED KINGDOM UNCIRCULATED COIN COLLECTION 1983, INCLUDING THE NEW £1 COIN, and ROYAL MINT. The interior bears the printed legend UNITED KINGDOM UNCIRCULATED COIN COLLECTION 1983. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The coins are in uncirculated condition and appear bright without visible toning or surface marks. The obverse and reverse of each coin are well-preserved within the sealed housing. The presentation folder displays shelf wear, notably a circular scuff mark to the black card on the front cover (photo 1) and minor wear to the outer edges. The set is supplied in its original Royal Mint packaging.
