Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
A 10-gram silver bullion bar, issued as legal tender for the Cook Islands and dated 2012. The obverse features a profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, with the struck inscriptions ELIZABETH II, COOK ISLANDS, 1 DOLLAR, and 2012. The designer’s initials IRB are struck below the neck. The reverse depicts a stylised Maori-inspired Tiki figure above a struck weight and purity inscription reading 10g .999 FINE SILVER. Below the figure is a rectangular assay stamp featuring the characters CHI within a circle, followed by the struck words ESSAYEUR FONDEUR. The piece is of rectangular form with a struck, relief-decorated finish. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels other than the assay stamp are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The coin shows signs of handling and environmental exposure. The obverse displays significant fine surface scratches across the portrait and throughout the fields (photo 1). The reverse exhibits similar fine surface scratching and light toning within the recessed areas of the Tiki figure and the assay marks (photo 2). No protective capsule or original packaging is supplied.
