A 1937 UK silver crown coin, issued for the coronation of King George VI. The obverse features the bare head of King George VI facing left. The initials HP are struck below the truncation of the neck. The surrounding legend reads GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX. The reverse depicts the Royal Coat of Arms with lion and unicorn supporters, surmounted by a crown, with a scroll below bearing the motto DIEU ET MON DROIT. The upper legend reads FID : DEF : IND : IMP : and the lower legend reads CROWN : 1937 :. The initials K and G flank the base of the shield. The coin is struck with a reeded edge. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.


Condition report:

The coin shows signs of handling and environmental exposure. The obverse retains significant original luster with dark toning concentrated around the legends and within the recesses of the King\'s hair. A small contact mark is visible on the King\'s cheek. The reverse displays high levels of detail in the heraldic design, with dark toning within the recessed areas of the shield and supporters. No protective capsule or original packaging is supplied.
