A traditional Welsh wool tapestry blanket manufactured by Derw Welsh Woollens. The blanket is constructed from 100 per cent pure new wool and features a classic geometric Caernarfon pattern, also known as a honeycomb weave. The design consists of repeating square and rectangular motifs in vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and white set against a black ground. This double-woven textile is reversible, displaying the pattern with inverted colours on the underside. Two sides are finished with a thick, multicoloured woollen fringe incorporating all the yarn colours used in the main body. A woven manufacturer’s label is attached to one corner, featuring the Derw brand name in red script, a red Welsh dragon graphic, and the International Woolmark logo.
Condition report:
The blanket is in good vintage condition with the colours remaining vibrant and unfaded. The weave is tight and uniform throughout. The fringe shows minor signs of tangling and light wear consistent with age and domestic use. There are no visible stains, holes, or significant structural defects.
