A large, reversible double-cloth woven wool blanket, traditionally produced in Wales and known as a Welsh tapestry blanket. The item features the iconic Caernarfon or portcullis geometric pattern throughout. It is constructed in a double-cloth weave, creating a reversible design where one side displays a dominant red ground with black, white, and grey-blue motifs, while the reverse shows a more prominent white and black grid with red accents. The blanket is finished with an integrated multi-colour fringe along the two longer side edges.
Width: 88 inches (224 cm)
Length: 98 inches (249 cm).
Condition report:
The blanket is in good vintage condition. No holes, thinning, or moth damage were observed during inspection. There are no significant stains or areas of discoloration visible. The integrated fringe is mostly intact, although it exhibits minor tangling and bunching consistent with age and use. Visible fold creases are present from previous storage.
