This cast iron sculpture depicts the Hindu deity Ganesha in a relaxed, seated posture on an integral textured base. The figure is rendered with traditional iconographical features, including an elephant head with large ears and four arms. Ganesha is shown wearing ornate jewellery, including beaded necklaces, bracelets, and armbands decorated with scrollwork. A draped garment with defined folds covers the legs and lower torso. The sculpture is finished with a rich, dark brown patina, exhibiting lighter highlights on raised areas such as the belly, knees, and ears. A small white rectangular adhesive sticker is applied to the lower centre of the base, bearing the printed characters 713. No signatures, foundry stamps, or other maker marks are visible on the sculpture.
Height approximately 170mm, width approximately 130mm at the widest point.
Condition report:
The sculpture is in good condition overall. There are no visible cracks, losses, or signs of repair. A minor accumulation of surface dust is present within the deeper recesses of the casting (photo 1). There is slight rubbing and wear to the dark brown patina on the extremities and raised highlights, consistent with handling (photo 2).
