A heptagonal cupro-nickel United Kingdom 50 pence coin issued as part of the London 2012 sports collection. The reverse design depicts a stylized scene of multiple basketball players in action against a background of court lines and a hoop. The coin is struck with the London 2012 Olympic logo at the top centre and the denomination 50 PENCE at the base. It is housed in its original illustrated card folder, which features a blue and orange geometric theme and a silhouette of a basketball player. The packaging is printed with the text London 2012 sports collection and Basketball along with the official Olympic logo featuring the rings. Although the obverse is not visible, it features the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This coin is one of 29 commemorative designs released to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Condition report:
The coin appears to be in brilliant uncirculated condition, retaining its original mint lustre with no visible signs of wear or handling through the plastic window (photo 1). The illustrated presentation card shows very light rubbing and minor shelf wear to the corners and edges (photo 1) but remains in good overall condition.
