This collection of international banknotes and currency ephemera comprises several specimens from various global issuers. The lot includes a large-format Italian 1,000 Lire note featuring Marco Polo (Serial: CB 215222 Z); a Brazilian 10 Cruzeiros note with a portrait of Getulio Vargas and a low serial number of 000380; a high-denomination Somali 10,000 Shilin note featuring fish; and a 50-unit MMM voucher from the Russian financial scheme featuring Sergei Mavrodi. Other represented nations include Belgium (20 Frank with molecular structure), Greece (50 Drachmai with trireme), Guinea-Bissau (50 Pesos with worker), Indonesia (1000 Rupiah), Congo (100 Cent Francs with elephant), Yugoslavia (100 Dinara), and Paraguay (1 Guarani). The collection also contains a German Notgeld piece from Wernigerode. Printing techniques include intaglio and lithographic processes on various paper stocks.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed circulated condition, ranging from Very Good to About Uncirculated. The Italian 1,000 Lire note shows heavy vertical and horizontal centre folds, edge wear, corner rounding, and light foxing. The Brazilian 10 Cruzeiros note exhibits a sharp vertical centre fold and light handling. The Somali 10,000 Shilin and Russian MMM voucher appear in better condition, exhibiting minimal handling and sharp edges. Other notes show typical signs of circulation including soft folds, light soiling, and minor corner impacts. No professional third-party grading is present.
