Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
A collection of United Kingdom threepence coins dating from 1920 and 1921. These coins are struck in .500 fine silver, a composition adopted during the 1920 debasement of British silver currency from the previous sterling standard. The obverse of each coin features the left-facing profile of King George V surrounded by the Latin legend GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP:. The reverse design displays a crowned numeral 3 centrally positioned within a wreath of oak leaves and acorns, with the date divided on either side of the numeral.
Condition report:
Circulated condition throughout. The coins show moderate wear to the high points of the King\'s hair and beard, as well as to the crowns on the reverse. Natural toning and dark tarnish are present, particularly evident on the 1921 examples. No significant edge knocks or deep scratches are visible.
