Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
A collection of United Kingdom commemorative twenty-five pence crowns struck in cupro-nickel. The group represents three distinct issues: the 1977 Silver Jubilee, the 1980 80th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and the 1981 Royal Wedding of HRH The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer. The obverse designs include the equestrian portrait of Queen Elizabeth II for the 1977 issue and the Arnold Machin bust of the Queen for the 1980 and 1981 issues. Reverse designs feature the Queen Mother portrait surrounded by radiating lions and bows, and the dual profile portraits of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. All coins exhibit milled edges and carry official inscriptions denoting the respective commemorative events and the regal title Elizabeth II D G Reg F D.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit bright silvery-white luster with scattered surface handling marks and fingerprints consistent with storage outside of protective capsules. Patches of light yellowish and brown toning are visible across the surfaces of several coins.
