This 1998 silver proof coin from Niue was issued to commemorate the 1948 silver wedding anniversary of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The obverse displays the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, NIUE, and 1998. The reverse features a commemorative portrait of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother), inscribed QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER, THE SILVER WEDDING, 1948, and the denomination 5 DOLLARS. Struck in sterling silver with a proof finish, the coin exhibits frosted cameo devices and mirrored fields. It is identified by catalog reference KM# 153.
Condition report:
Uncirculated. The coin is housed in a clear plastic capsule which shows surface scuffing and scratches. The coin itself remains in excellent condition with no visible marks, wear, or toning.
