Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
A collection of 1978 UK proof coins issued by the Royal Mint. The set consists of six decimal denominations: cupro-nickel 50 New Pence, 10 New Pence, and 5 New Pence, and bronze 2 New Pence, 1 New Penny, and 1/2 New Penny. The collection includes a square bronze-coloured medal featuring a royal coat of arms and the text ROYAL MINT. The obverses display the Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse designs include Britannia, a crowned lion, a crowned thistle, the Prince of Wales’s feathers, a crowned portcullis, and a crown. The items are presented in a clear plastic display case with a black insert and the original brown cardboard slipcase with silver-coloured printed text reading COINAGE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM + NORTHERN IRELAND 1978.
Condition report:
Coins are in proof condition with mirror-like surfaces and sharp strikes. No significant toning or spotting is visible. The clear plastic case is intact. The outer cardboard slipcase shows minor shelf wear and light scuffing along the edges and corners.
