Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
A United Kingdom 1984 Proof Coin Collection issued by the Royal Mint, comprising eight coins and a commemorative token. The set includes a nickel-brass One Pound coin featuring the Scottish thistle reverse; cupro-nickel Fifty Pence (Britannia), Twenty Pence (Tudor Rose), Ten Pence (crowned lion), and Five Pence (crowned thistle); and bronze Two Pence (Prince of Wales feathers), One Penny (portcullis), and Half Penny (crown). A square black plastic token is included, bearing a silver-coloured crown above the inscription Elizabeth R 1984. The coins are held within a clear plastic protective display case and housed in the original blue leatherette presentation folder, which features a silver-coloured Royal Mint crest on the front. This set is notable for containing the final year of issue for the decimal Half Penny and the first year of the regional floral reverse series for the One Pound coin.
Condition report:
The coins are in proof condition with frosted devices and mirror-like fields. There is visible surface haze and toning present, most notably on the cupro-nickel denominations including the Ten Pence and Five Pence pieces. The blue leatherette presentation folder shows minor shelf wear and light handling marks. The interior clear plastic case remains intact.
