A pair of porcelain lidded baluster-form urns. The items feature fine white porcelain bodies manufactured by Bareuther and Co. in Waldsassen, Bavaria. The exterior surfaces are decorated with hand-painted fruit studies including arrangements of apples, grapes, blackberries, and acorns against a mottled ochre and sienna background. Both urns are signed by the artist A. Mellor. The decoration follows the traditional fruit-painting style associated with Staffordshire and Worcester craftsmen. The vessels are topped with domed covers featuring gilded ball finials and gilt banding to the rims and bases. The underside of each urn bears two green printed marks: a crowned Bareuther Waldsassen Bavaria Germany mark with the number 214, and a secondary mark stating Hand Painted China by Staffordshire Craftsmen Collectors Piece.

Condition report:
One urn exhibits a significant hairline crack extending approximately 5 to 7.5 cm from the rim down into the neck. Both pieces show light surface wear and minor rubbing to the gilt finials and rims. One vase contains a small surface scuff on the painted area of an apple. The second urn is otherwise free of chips or cracks.
