Buyer's Premium:

A 1970 proof coin set issued by the Royal Mint, titled The Coinage of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The set comprises eight pre-decimal denominations: a half crown, a florin, two versions of the shilling (English and Scottish reverses), a sixpence, a nickel-brass threepence, a bronze penny, and a bronze halfpenny. A square bronze commemorative plaque featuring heraldic symbols is included within the display. The coins exhibit the final pre-decimal reverse designs including the Royal Shield of Arms, Tudor rose, lions, Britannia, the Golden Hind, and a portcullis. All coins are dated 1970 and bear Latin and English inscriptions including FID DEF. The collection is housed in a clear protective sleeve with a purple velvet-lined insert, accompanied by the original textured purple cardboard outer box featuring gold-toned script.

Condition report:

Coins appear in proof condition, exhibiting sharp strikes, mirrored fields, and original mint lustre. The plastic sleeve and velvet insert are well-preserved. The outer cardboard box shows minimal signs of shelf wear along the edges and corners.
