A UK commemorative five pound (crown) proof coin issued by the Royal Mint in 2004 to mark the centenary of the Entente Cordiale. The reverse features the Britannia and Marianne design by David Gentleman, representing the 1904 diplomatic agreement between the United Kingdom and France. The obverse displays the fourth definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. The reverse is inscribed ENTENTE CORDIALE along with the dates 1904 and 2004. Struck in .925 sterling silver, the coin features frosted relief against mirror-like fields. It is housed in a square clear plastic capsule and presented in its original red Royal Mint case with a black felt interior and cream satin lid liner. Included is the red commemorative booklet titled 100th Anniversary of the Entente Cordiale Commemorative Proof Crown.
