Produced by The Corbin Mint, this commemorative bronze-coloured medal is titled the California Dollar. The obverse features a composite design of regional landmarks including a mission bell tower, a grizzly bear, and the Golden Gate Bridge, with legends reading CALIFORNIA DOLLAR and THE GOLDEN STATE. It is dated 1974 and bears the inscription © CORBIN MINT. The reverse displays the Great Seal of the State of California, the state bird, flower, and flag, accompanied by the inscriptions DISCOVERED IN 1542 BY JUAN RODRIGUEZ CABRILLO and EUREKA! I HAVE FOUND IT. The medal remains mounted on its original yellow illustrated display card, dated © The Corbin Mint 1976, which contains historical text and the issuer’s address in Laguna Hills, California.
