This lot consists of two crown-sized commemorative coins struck in silver-coloured base metal. The first is a United Kingdom 2002 Golden Jubilee Five Pound coin. The obverse features the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse displays an equestrian portrait with the Latin legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REGINA FID DEF AMOR POPULI PRAESIDIUM REG and the date 2002. The second is a Tristan da Cunha 2006 Five Pound coin, issued to commemorate the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse shows a portrait of the Queen with the legend ELIZABETH II TDC FIVE POUNDS 2006. The reverse features a radial trumpet design surrounding a central monogram with the legend COMMEMORATING THE 80th BIRTHDAY of H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REG FD. Both coins feature milled edges. These coins were issued as legal tender commemoratives for the 2002 Golden Jubilee and the Queen’s 80th birthday.
Condition report:
The United Kingdom 2002 coin is in extremely fine condition with light surface contact marks and minor abrasions. The Tristan da Cunha 2006 coin is in very fine condition, exhibiting heavy dark toning and tarnish across both the obverse and reverse fields.
