This commemorative £2 coin was issued by the British Overseas Territory of South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands in 2006. The obverse features the right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend SOUTH GEORGIA & SOUTH SANDWICH ISLANDS 2006. The reverse commemorates the Queen’s 80th birthday and features a design depicting the 1947 wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The inscriptions include 80 years and the denomination £2 within a decorative scroll. Struck with a proof finish, the coin displays frosted relief details against mirrored fields. It is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule.
