A vintage piano accordion by Mantovani, featuring a twenty-five key treble keyboard and a thirty-two button bass section. The instrument is finished in a grey and black pearloid celluloid body with matching cream pearloid treble keys. The treble side is fitted with an ornate, Art Deco-inspired pierced metal grille featuring geometric motifs over a gold-coloured mesh. The bellows are constructed from fabric with gold-toned reinforced edging and leather straps. The maker’s name, Mantovani, is rendered in red cursive script on the treble casing. The accordion is housed in a blue textured hardshell carry case with a green fabric-lined interior and leather retaining straps.
Condition report:
The instrument shows age-related wear throughout. The pearloid finish is largely intact, though the treble keys exhibit yellowing and unevenness. The metal grille shows minor tarnishing and surface oxidation. Leather straps are worn and aged. The bellows show typical wear to the edges and corners. The carry case is in poor to fair condition with significant external scuffing, loss of finish to metal hardware, and fraying to the interior lining. Musical functionality, air-tightness, and tuning have not been tested.
