This lot comprises two items: a commemorative philatelic coin cover and an accompanying matted portrait print. The coin cover is titled The Centenary of Her Majesty the Queen Mother, issued by Mercury (serial M 07996), and is mounted on a descriptive presentation page from The Royal Family series, part of The Lady of the Century Stamp Collection. The cover features a single gold-toned 1st-class Machin definitive stamp from the United Kingdom, cancelled with a commemorative circular date stamp (CDS) from Clarence House, London, dated 6.1.00. Inset into the cover is a five-pound commemorative crown coin marking the Queen Mother’s centenary (1900–2000), inscribed Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother 1900-2000 Five Pounds and bearing a facsimile signature Elizabeth R. The second item is a matted watercolour-style portrait of the Queen Mother in formal state attire including the Garter sash and tiara, titled Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother on a dark blue mount.
Condition report:
Both items appear to be in excellent condition and are housed in original protective plastic sleeves. The stamp, cancellation, and coin show no visible signs of wear, toning, or oxidation. The presentation page and matted print remain crisp with no evident foxing or corner damage.
